What is Considered Innovative?
Innovation is everywhere, especially within teachers and in classrooms. Perhaps you are thinking about a new and creative approach or program to engage your students. If your idea has a meaningful and measureable outcome, enhances core curriculum, and benefits a large number of students (grade or subject level grants encouraged), your ideas would probably qualify. Send in an application and let us help you maximize your potential.
Who Decides?
To make sure that the teacher mini grants are distributed fairly, a Grant Review Committee (made up of four or more educators, volunteers, and RBEF Board Members) will independently evaluate each application. Grant content will be measured against 100 criteria points and averaged across all reviewers. Equity of distribution across schools will be a consideration. Mini grants go to the most compelling and clearly defined projects.
The application itself is simple and straightforward, but completeness and clarity is a must. Applications missing information will not be considered, so please make sure to submit all required content and signatures.

Redondo Beach Education Foundation Board Members,

Thank you for approving the teacher mini-grant application which allowed us to purchase four Zillio Mega Mountains. One special education student who comes everyday for math instruction is particularly interested in the Mountain. He will do other math work in order to earn time placing tokens on the staircases; he doesn't know that he is learning about multiples. And, that is really the beauty of the Zillio Mega Mountain. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to share this math manipulative with our students.

Redondo Beach Education Foundation Board Members,
Thank you for the very generous grant you awarded to our school. This
technology will give students the confidence to participate in class
like never before. They will be able to answer every question and not be
intimidated by their peers. Students who need addition time to process
information will be given the "think time" they need to answer
questions. They will finally feel like they are part of the discussion
and not left behind by peers who respond instantly to questioning by the
teacher.

Redondo Beach Education Foundation Board Members,
I cannot begin to express in an email how much the mini-grant funded by Northrop Grumman impacted my fifth grade students at Beryl Heights Elementary School. The seven Boreal Microscopes with built in light sources provided approximately 60 fifth graders to see things literally on a whole new level. These instruments provided a vehicle for undeniable enthusiasm and excitement in our science classroom. Over and over students would exclaim, "WOW", "I can't believe this", "This is so cool", "This is what tissues in our bodies look like?". They would literally scream, "Look at this, look at this!".
